Our area's many new cultures can be seen in hundreds of culture-based businesses. Newcomers are opening new shops, restaurants, bakeries, dance clubs and more. Their food, music and other familiar products help link their customers to life back home.
These businesses often serve as community centers. They offer comfortable, familiar atmospheres where newcomers can gather to share information and stories while surrounded by their home culture.
Newcomer businesses are also wonderful places for all of us to explore and enjoy. As we savor each other's traditional foods and enjoy each other's music and dance, we learn from one another and influence each other.
